Mayor's Blog
This is a very exciting week for our community as we welcome the Highway 127 Yard Sale. As part of the festivities and as an effort to bring greater attention to our hometown, the City of Jamestown hosts the Jamestown Jamboree each year. We’ve been working very hard to prepare for the event. The Jamboree begins at 10:00 a.m. this Saturday, August 8th with a “Cruise-In Car Show.” Anyone with a vintage or antique car is invited to join us and park your car around the Fentress County Court House or the Jamestown City Parking Lot across the street. Everyone is invited to come by throughout the day and reminisce the good old days with our guests. The main stage opens at twelve noon at the Mark Twain Park where the music begins with our very own Old Country John B. Bring your own chair and get ready to sit back and relax. There will be food and drinks for sale on the grounds as well.
Standing Stone Bluegrass will kick things off for the first hour followed by Leonard Anderson at 1:00 p.m. Fentress County Bluegrass takes the stage at 2:00 p.m. and Mountain Rose steps up at 3:00 p.m. At 4:00 p.m. Tymeline finishes the first round. Starting at 5:00 Standing Stone Bluegrass comes back to begin the second round of music with Leonard Anderson again at 6:00 p.m., Fentress County Bluegrass at 7:00 p.m., Mountain Rose at 8:00 p.m., and Tymeline at 9:00 p.m.
In other news, you may have seen quite a bit of construction going on at the Jamestown Community Park. The City is excited to begin our project there on some great improvements. We strive to provide a place where family and friends can come to play, relax, and fellowship. In doing so, we are installing new playground equipment, updating landscaping and signage, and much more. Please be careful and use caution if you are nearby. Also if you see our City Employees out and about, take the time to applaud them for a job well done and their great handy work.
If you have any questions, our doors are always open. Give us a call at City Hall at 931-879-8815 and please feel free to keep up with us on Facebook at Facebook.com/CityOfJamestown
